Between July and September 2026, seven food businesses in Davie passed a state licensing inspection. Three of them are on South University Drive. Two more share a wall on Stirling Road, at 6815 and 6819. That count comes from Davie Today's monthly roundup of new businesses, which the outlet builds from Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation records and last updated October 8, 2026.
That puts most of this fall's new restaurants on the town's busiest commercial roads, in existing shopping strips. For a resident deciding where to try something new this week, the useful question is which road to drive down and which signs actually mean the kitchen is open.
The Paperwork Trail Behind Every New Counter
Florida's Division of Hotels and Restaurants does a licensing inspection when a food service business applies for a license. A business shows up in that record when it opens or changes hands. Davie Today says a passed inspection "does not always mean the doors are open," because some businesses pass weeks before their first customer. Anyone can look up the underlying data through the state's public records portal.
Here are the seven, with what other sources say about whether each is serving:
| Inspection date, 2026 | Business | Address | Status as of mid-October |
|---|---|---|---|
| July 15 | Dave's Hot Chicken | 2631 S. University Drive | Operating; brand page lists hours and ordering |
| July 24 | Monster Burgers | 2325 S. University Drive | Opened August 1 |
| July 29 | The Golf Vault | 4900 S. University Drive, Suite 205 | Inspected; opening date not confirmed |
| Aug. 18 | Sweet District | 3440 SW 76th Terrace, Suite 101 | Unconfirmed |
| Aug. 20 | Pearl Boba Tea and Snacks | 11372 W. State Road 84 | Ordering page has reviews from February 2026 |
| Aug. 26 | Wing Snob | 6815 Stirling Road | Operating; brand page lists hours |
| Sept. 8 | Southern Luv BBQ | 6819 Stirling Road | Soft opening; grand opening October 16 |
Two rows need a caveat. Pearl Boba is in the Plaza at Davie on State Road 84, and its delivery listing shows customer reviews dated February 2026, months before the August inspection. That timing points to new ownership or a new license, not a brand-new shop. Sweet District's online ordering page showed every day as closed when checked. Nothing found confirms what it serves or when it will open.
All five of the others are on just two roads.
South University Drive, Read by Address
The South University Drive cluster runs through the stretch near Nova Southeastern University, where shopping centers line both sides. The newest additions and near-additions run in this order:
- Monster Burgers, 2325 S. University Drive. Opened August 1, 2026.
- Whit's Frozen Custard, 2601 S. University Drive. At the Shoppes of Arrowhead, still listed as "Opening Soon!"
- Dave's Hot Chicken, 2631 S. University Drive. Nashville-style hot chicken, operating now.
- Chef Reece Kitchen, 4196 S. University Drive. A Jamaican-fusion restaurant that moved to this address in March.
- The Golf Vault, 4900 S. University Drive, Suite 205. A golf-simulator lounge with food and drinks, upstairs from Pinza 104.
Monster Burgers has the longest backstory. According to Burger Beast, the couple behind it served Colombian fast food from a food truck starting in 2011, and the Davie location is their first restaurant. The room keeps the truck's look, with bright green walls, cartoon monster artwork and an open kitchen. The menu carries over the truck's best-known items. Monster Fries pile french fries, fried yellow potatoes and sliced sausage under the house sauces. Maicito, a Colombian street-food dish, layers sweet corn, mozzarella, crushed potato chips, pineapple sauce and cream sauce, with chicken or bacon as an option. Before August, finding that menu meant tracking the truck to an event. Now it has a fixed address with a dining room.
Dave's Hot Chicken passed its licensing inspection on July 15. Its official Davie location page lists daily hours and online ordering. The South Florida Sun Sentinel also included it in an August 4 list of restaurants that scored perfect inspections in July. When What Now Miami reported the permit filings on July 8, no opening date had been announced. None of the sources reviewed for this post gives one.
Whit's Frozen Custard sits 30 address numbers south of Dave's, at 2601. Whit's own Davie page places it at the Shoppes of Arrowhead and still says "Opening Soon!" What Now Miami described the menu in August as frozen custard, shakes, sundaes and mix-ins, with no date given. Once it opens, the 2600 block will have hot chicken and custard a few doors apart.
Farther south, Chef Reece Kitchen moved to 4196 S. University Drive. Business Debut reported in February that the restaurant was aiming to reopen in early March. The restaurant's own website now says "We Moved!!!" and gives the new address as of Thursday, March 5, 2026, with online ordering.
The corridor also has a morning option. Bagels & Co., a Brooklyn-style bagel café, opened at 3440 SW 76th Terrace in Modera Academical Village beside NSU. It held a public grand opening on March 17, 2026, according to QSR Magazine. The menu covers coffee, bagels, schmears, sandwiches and pastries.
Stirling Road's Shared Wall
The second cluster is smaller and tighter. Two restaurants opened next to each other in The Shoppes at Stirling Place, and both reached the public within weeks of each other.
Wing Snob, at 6815 Stirling Road, serves wings, tenders and sandwiches. Its opening came after roughly a year of delays. Hoodline reported on August 14 that the target was around August 20. The state inspection followed on August 26. The brand's Davie location page now lists hours and online ordering, but no source gives the exact first day of service.
Next door at 6819 is Southern Luv BBQ, the newest of the seven by inspection date. It's a Tampa-founded brand, and Davie is its first Broward County restaurant. A franchisee, Dark Mountain LLC, runs it. Southern Luv's September 29 press release said the restaurant was already in soft opening, serving daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The Davie menu lists pecan-smoked brisket and pulled pork, the brand's Cuban sandwich, loaded mac bowls, St. Louis ribs and scratch-made sides, along with flatbreads, scratch-made desserts and a Lil Luv kids meal. Dine-in, takeout, delivery and catering are all offered.
The grand opening is set for Friday, October 16, 2026, at 4 p.m. An October 9 update moved it up one day from Saturday, October 17. The restaurant's listed number is (954) 685-8081.
The Stirling Road pair shows why the inspection record is useful. Wing Snob's opening date was reported and then moved. Southern Luv was serving soft-opening customers before it scheduled a public celebration. In both cases, the state's licensing inspection is the one documented, dated record from before the public opening.
What Is Still Only a Sign
Not every new name on these roads is serving yet. As of mid-October, three places are still unconfirmed:
- Whit's Frozen Custard, 2601 S. University Drive. Its official page still says "Opening Soon!"
- Puffles, 1855 S. University Drive. Hong Kong-style bubble waffles, ice cream and bubble tea. The most recent coverage, from What Now Miami on June 26, said permits had been filed and gave no opening date.
- Sweet District, 3440 SW 76th Terrace, Suite 101. It passed a state inspection on August 18, but its ordering page shows it closed and no source describes its menu.
Puffles would push the University Drive cluster farther north. If both it and Whit's open, the corridor gains two dessert stops within about 750 address numbers of each other.
The Next Cluster Is Already Under Construction
The next big addition to Davie's restaurant map will be on State Road 7, away from both of these corridors. The Sun Sentinel reported on September 24 that the Plaza Davie District is going up at the southwest corner of Griffin Road and State Road 7. The site is a few blocks north of the guitar-shaped hotel at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, on 8.3 acres that once held a BrandsMart-anchored shopping plaza. When it's finished, the project will include 36,000 square feet of shops, restaurants and retail. The first 22-story tower is targeted for completion in early 2027, and the developer hopes to have all five towers built by 2031. No restaurant tenants have been announced. Until they are, Davie's newest places to eat stay on South University Drive and Stirling Road, and this Friday's opening at 6819 Stirling Road is the next date on the calendar.
At The Melissa Miller Group, we track these openings because knowing what has opened, and on which road, is part of knowing Davie. If you'd like a current read on how Davie's commercial corridors connect to the neighborhoods around them, our team is glad to share what we're seeing, including access to our private listings.
